Davis station now installed. Data infill being worked on.
In order to clear any remaining debug/test data from the station console, the system is being run for about 4 weeks with a system start date of 15th January. After this period the data buffer should have been flushed and the start date will be reverted to its correct value of 6th January 2012. This will include the legacy data into the calculations again.

Station Upgrade
A 'last ditch' attempt to restart the Fine Offset station resulted in the transmitter synchronising with the console. The transmitter has been reattached to the sensors on the mast and the barometer and clock have been corrected. As the mast is still horiontal, the sensor readings are incorrect so the station has not been placed on-line. An attempt to re-install the mast to its correct position will be undertaken tomorrow and, if successful, the station will be restored.

Station Upgrade
Attempts to resync the transmitter and console now abandoned. Transmitter can be heard sending data on 868MHz but the console does not appear to be receiving it. It is believed that the 'strike' has caused a voltage surge in one or other sensor lead and irreversibly damaged the transmitter CPU.
The station was scheduled to be replaced in early November with a Davis Vantage Pro2 Plus and this work is being brought forward to minimise the duration of the outage. At the same time, the station PC may be upgraded.

Internal temperature sensor failure
Unexplained failure of internal temperature sensor, possibly related to installation of DC console power. Internal temperature capture is an unused feature of the default Cumulus installation. It is likely, therefore, that the website will be modified to remove the graph and steps taken to remove the reading from the data files. Another option will be to try to repair/replace the sensor. In the meantime, the internal temperature reading is to be treated as invalid. May be related to the previous pressure reading glitch.
Update 06/08/21. It seems that the sensor is working and that the improved insulation in the room where the console is installed is causing the flattened response. Issue closed with a watching brief!

Internet Service Upgrade
The station internet service has been upgraded from ADSL2+ to VDSL2 (FTTC). This has resulted in numerous reboots of the router, with consequent changes to IP address, whilst line training is taking place. Each change of IP address breaks the connection to the website server, which has to be manually reset, sometimes taking a little while.
No data is lost when this occurs but the website freezes until the link is reset. Archives are complete.
From 07/02/21 20:00 to 13/02/21 08:00.

Storm Darcy, dubbed 'Beast from the East 2', brings snow and biting winds
Storm Darcy, dubbed 'Beast from the East 2', brings snow and biting winds. Heavy snow and icy conditions have hit parts of the UK, as strong easterly winds from Ukraine and the Black Sea sweep across the country.
The Met Office has issued amber weather warnings for snow in parts of London, the east and southeast of England, stretching from Norwich to Canterbury.
A second wave affected the North East later in the week, leading to snowfall over most of the UK during the storm. Bitterly cold north-easterly winds remain strong as well, with gusts around 40-50mph along eastern coasts, and between 30-40mph inland in the east, which means blizzard conditions are still likely over these areas and significant drifting of lying snow.
The easterly winds originating from eastern Europe are not predicted to be bitingly cold as the 'Beast from the East' back in 2018.
